And Away We Go!

I had hoped to be able to post to the blog sooner than this but in the month since we moved things have been very hectic for us. That, and truth be told, we only have a dial-up connection here at the house and it has been too painful to be online longer than is absolutely necessary. High speed internet access has spoiled me forever.

The move went well, the movers showed up early and they were terrific. They were very gentle with our stuff and nothing was broken, although a few days later I managed to smash a bottle of port that had been given to us as a gift. As I was cleaning up the mess I almost licked the sponge just to get a little taste of that lovely port before it all went down the drain but then the thought of picking broken glass out of my tongue kept me in check.

Anyway, all the stress leading up to and then in the first few weeks after the move has pretty much settled down. We finally did get the co-op approval of our buyer. I thought many times about venting about that situation here on the blog but alls well that ends well and since that situation was settled we were able to close on the apt. and put it all behind us. Nothing would have been gained by my ranting on and on about it. I didn't cry at the closing like I thought I would, which made me very happy and which also made me realize that while I will miss living in NYC, I am very happy living right here. I was ready for this change in my life.

We also fiiinalllly got the little girls visa. There was a hold-up/mix-up on that because somewhere between D.C. and Australia those forms/files we had to fill out and have notarized stating that we were the parents were either lost or corrupted. I won't rant about that either, it all worked out in the end.

So here I am, posting my last blog entry from NY for a while and up much later than I should be trying not to let the fact that the house is not quite unpacked and in good order before we leave for Australia on Thurs. I am letting it go, I am letting it go. I did as much as I could. Really I did as much as I could.

The next time I post it will be from Sydney, send lucky thoughts and good vibes, we are flying with a toddler!
