To Thine Own Bread Be True

It's official. I'm a happy little home baker. I finally treated myself and my oven to tiles for which to line the bottom of the oven with. Doing the happy dance here, mainly because the tiles only cost .33 cents each! woohoo

I've been meaning to buy them for the oven for a while, but somehow for one reason or another I always seemed to forget to pick up the silly things whenever I was at a place that sold unglazed tile. I happened to be at a Home Depot recently, and as luck would have it, I also happened to remember to pick up tiles. So this week, my oven gets a vigorous scrubdown, then the tiles go in, lining the bottom of the oven so that the heat distributes more evenly when the oven is in use. I can then go ahead and make all those fabulous crusty loaves of bread and crispy bottomed pizzas that I've been just itching to bake in an oven that's been lined with unglazed tile. It's about as close as I'm ever going to get to having my own brick oven and then even so, theres still a lot more I can do in terms of lining the oven with tile, but for right now, this will do.
