I can't believe Ellie is already a month old. Where has the time gone? Thank you everyone for all the lovely emails and comments about Ellie. I'm sorry I wasn't able to answer everyone individually, my intentions were there but I just didn't have the free time I thought I would. I finally got a good groove going with the nursing, Ellie and I found a system that works for us and she is thriving and finally starting to fit into all the wonderful clothes that people have given her. She has also learned how to charm her parents into doing just about anything for her!
I miss cooking, or rather, I should say I'm starting to miss cooking. When I first got out of the hospital and I was healing from the surgery and Ellie and I were struggling with the nursing I was grateful that Tom was cooking our meals everyday. The last thing I wanted then, was to be in the kitchen. I didn't want to read a cooking magazine or cookbook and I had no desire to watch any cooking shows. It's been a nice break, but now I'm itching to get back into the kitchen, especially since we recently purchased some new knives (NEW KNIVES!) and a few other items for our kitchen at the house upstate! I'm looking forward to learning about and finally canning for the first time. I want to pull out my never used pasta machine and finally, after all these years of keeping it hidden away, let it see the light of day and make fresh pasta. I can't wait to start baking bread again, baking cookies and making cakes, especially quite a few chocolate types since I'm allowed to eat chocolate again (YAY!). I'm getting excited about starting a small herb garden in the spring to introduce myself to gardening and I'm looking forward to making baby food from scratch once Ellie gets the okay to start eating big people food in a few months. I've also seen a few food movies recently and I want to write about them too, I just need to better budget my time so that I can write about these things here. I imagine the site won't get the attention it used to, or that I will be updating as frequently as I used to, but I fully intend to continue keeping up with it, after all, I still love to cook even if I do take a break from it from time to time.
