What can it be now?

Normally I would never think of showing anyone the inside of my refrigerator. I mean, after all, some things should remain private. I'm making an exception though, because I can barely contain myself as it is and I just want to share my excitement. If this works...well then... if this works I'm going to be beside myself with happiness. I took some of this and some of this and smeared it on THICK over this. I ended up with this, which needs to be weighted down in the fridge for at least 24 hours. If all goes well (keep your fingers crossed) then it will become what is known as Gravlax. (and yes Tom, it's edible) In the meantime, I'm freaking the freak OUT because if it doesn't work I'll have to throw out a pretty hefty piece of fish, not to mention the waste of money. However, I will remain optimistic and not project negative vibes towards my fridge OR the salmon. I'll tell ya, it's really taking everything I have not to keep unwrapping it and peeking at it to watch it cure...there is exciting stuff happening in my fridge and all I can do is wait. (sigh) Looking on the bright side... at least my weights get a day off...cough...right.

Recipe and results to come.
