Web-Logs I Enjoy ~ Part One

I'm officially tired of winter...Hello Winter, thanks for stopping by and staying for a few months but now I'd like you to GO... ok... so...buh-bye.

I'm in one of those "I don't know what to eat don't know what to cook" funks. Honestly, I'd just like some plain salad and some fruit, nothing fancy, just simple and with little effort put into it. I'm going to re-group and see if I can't muster the energy to cook something fabulous (I say that tongue in cheek) in the next few days. In the meantime, I've been putting off writing about the blogs I enjoy reading (I'm really not crazy about that word) and since I'm not doing much in the way of cooking this week, now is a good time to tell you about them.

I've been putting this off because I have trouble expressing myself properly through writing. Writing does not come easily to me. I feel that anything I say about these sites won't do them proper justice- you must go see them for yourself. There are many many links in my drop down menus, and one day I'd like to do entries about every single one of them. Until time allows though, I'm going to post some of the ones I frequent most often and in alphabetical order because that way is easiest for me to stay organized. Not all the blogs I enjoy are related to food and I'll be posting some of those too. So! Without further delay I bring you the first installment of... Web-logs I Enjoy.

Food Related:

Appetites- Robert writes about food and restaurants in a lovely and often times funny manner. He appreciates fine dining and eats out often, and he's honest and sincere in his reviews of the places he goes to. But that's not all! He's also a serious and knowledgeable cook. He makes some pretty tasty meals at home and lucky for us writes about the process of his cooking in a wonderful and charming way. It's always a pleasure to visit his site.

Bourrez Votre Visage- I recently discovered this site and have been "hanging around" (a lot) because the writing is interesting and good and the information priceless. Matt and Martin are in the process of redesigning the site but all the great info is still up and waiting for you to come read.

Bread Coffee Chocolate Yoga- Fortune has a wonderful site that concentrates on none other than Bread Coffee Chocolate and Yoga! She provides information on trends, controversies, what's new, the health benefits of, and gives out information to raise public awareness of the working conditions of people in the coffee trade. She provides interesting and quality writing about these 4 major topics and is funny and friendly in her manner. There's also a message board community at her site too. A must read.

Butter Pig-Another recent discovery. Tom loves butter and knows how to use it! All kidding aside, he has some really good information and and a vast array of delicious recipes using many quality ingredients. It would be a shame if you missed this site.

ChefBlog-Joanna is in Culinary School and much to my great pleasure writes about her experiences on an almost daily basis. We find out what it's like first hand to be a Chef in Training and the hard work that goes into becoming one. It's fascinating to me and what I really like is how Joanna is willing to share her failures as well as her successes, something that's not easy to do in private, let alone on the internet.

Eat Drink and Be Married-I was quite tickled by the title of this blog. Missus Schmalzer writes about food, wine, and restaurants. She gives recipes, has a food movies section, and has amassed quite a large collection of food blog links. Most importantly though, she writes about the experience of being married "at the table". The meals, the wine, the conversation, it's all there in one tidy cleverly titled blog.

Etherf@rm-A beautifully designed site and so much more content than just food. The recipes are mouth watering and delicious reading but what really brings me back is the photography! There is some truly gorgeous, inspiring photography at this site. A must see!

Food Blog-Paul is friendly, and quite knowledgeable. He has gorgeous photos of his meals and a real love of cooking that is evident in the way he writes about it. There's a friendly casual feel to his website that I very much enjoy and Paul always goes out of his way to make you feel welcome there. He has taken on the daunting task of finding all the food-related sites he can and it's with great pleasure that I frequent Paul's blog in search of new reading. This site is a must.

Alrighty, so as not to overwhelm myself or you, I'll conclude this installment of Web-logs I Enjoy. Stay tuned for the next round coming soon to MurrayHill 5.
