X-treme Closeup: Take 2

Hold onto your seats because- once again we're going "XTREME!" This is the little super-secret kitchen toy that arrived yesterday that has cats and grown-ups...oh alright! has me buzzing with excitement. I've been scouring my cookbooks for recipes that will require me to use it, but it's not easy, I have yet to find a recipe that really appeals to me. I'm looking for one that jumps out and grabs me. I'm not going to tell you what it is that quickly (as if you couldn't just scroll down to the pop-up and peek... haha, but I know you wouldn't do that) so see if you can guess.

Last night I left some of my cookbooks in 2 piles on the floor, too lazy and sleepy to bother putting them away. This morning I woke up with selective seeing...you know what I mean...the pile of books are on the floor but invisible, even when you need to step over them to get to your computer to check your email. So, on the floor they stayed. Now I've joked quite a bit here about my cat Charlie and his love of cooking, how he's my sous chef and loves being in the kitchen with me. I swear I couldn't have planned this if I tried, when I came home from work tonight I found Charlie on the floor, snuggling and loving up the cookbooks! Coincidence...maybe.

I think I've stalled enough, I've built up the excitement and I know you all want to see the "XTREME!" close-up so without further delay I present you with...

WoW! I'd like to interupt for a moment to say that the cantelope I'm eating is THE WORST most wooden and flat tasting cantelope I have ever eaten. My coffee table tastes better.

ok... ok.... (drum roll please) once again I present you with:

Steamed Pudding Mold!

I can't honestly tell you why steamed puddings fascinate me so much that I had to actually buy a mold for one. I've only ever had steamed pudding once, in a restaurant in Scotland many years ago and it wasn't that memorable (the pudding not the trip). I think a lot of the steamed puddings I've seen resemble fruit cakes, which don't appeal to me. What I'm looking for is some kind of cakey, thick and rich bread-like- sweet that is steamy hot and soft and moist and doesn't have raisins in it. I should tell you about my bizarre raisin phobia one of these days, I can't figure it out myself since I used to eat them all the time...oh man I'm doing it again, anyway, not to get off the subject, I want this hot steamy cakey like thing without raisins to have a warm vanilla-bourbon sauce, or some kind of tasty sauce drizzled all over it and served with a cup of fresh brewed coffee, so I'm on a recipe quest, luckily it's a long weekend. Hey, if you have any recipes or suggestions please, bring em on, I'm game to try.

Speaking of a long weekend, Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. I'm probably not going to be updating much over the weekend, I have a ton of things to take care of, and some cooking to do, I've taken a week off and I'm itching to get back in the kitchen. Be safe and well and I'll be back soon.
