Potato~Leek Soup featuring a Carrot (for color)

Tom thinks I've taken leave of my senses, who knows, maybe I have. Before we sit down to eat, I take pictures of our meals. That part really isn't so unusual...it's just that, since I've started posting our meals on the internet, I've really become conscious of how the food looks, how it's being lit and how it looks on the plate. I've also noted... our need for a much wider variety of dishes. (grin)

Last night he caught me balancing myself on a chair, holding a light, the camera in my other hand, trying to get the lighting just right so I could take the picture...and that's when he stopped in his tracks and said:

"You're nuts"

Then he went downstairs to visit our friend GH, leaving me standing on the chair, about to fall off because I was laughing too hard to keep my balance....if I really stop to think about it, he's right.

So the picture you see of my potato~leek soup has little drops of heavy cream in it, it's not a whiter soup because I sauteed a carrot with the other veggies-but I like the color, so I um... I did that on purpose...yeah!. It's my first tentative steps towards making the meals look more...well I dunno ...more something.

The soup itself just turned out ok. I'm not sure why. I guess I shouldn't have used a carrot, or maybe it was the fennel and celery root I threw in there, maybe those aren't the right veggies for this kind of soup. Whatever it was, I just feel it falls short of how I expected it to taste, but that's cool, I can always try again.

At least the picture turned out nice.
